Gilgamesh is a 22-minute short film inspired by the original epic written over 3,000 years ago. The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest surviving work of world literature.

Shot on location around Ireland Gilgamesh is reimagined as a stunning visual poem. Exploring the fundamental themes of humanity- love, power, war and environmental crisis. The core elements at the heart of the world's oldest surviving literary epic are, thousands of years later, at the centre of our human experience today.

Gilgamesh has been screened at Woodshole Festival (USA), London Irish Film Festival (UK), Middlesborough Film Festival (USA) and Still Voices Film Festival (IRL).

Written 1,500 years before Homer wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey, the Epic of Gilgamesh was discovered in the ruins of the library of Ashurbanipal in Nineveh, an ancient city located in ancient Mesopotamia (modern-day northern Iraq).

Written on 12 stone tablets over 3,000 years ago, it is widely regarded as the earliest surviving work of imaginative literature. A living, breathing epic like no other, the Epic of Gilgamesh has survived generations as civilisations rise and fall, and continues to maintain relevance to the present day.

Gilgamesh mirrors the leadership structures we have today, the actions, choices and decisions that are being played out globally.
